Conservatives want a new Leader apparently

Two apparent grassroots websites whose owners and supporters choose to remain anonymous have sprouted up online. Conservatives for Jim Prentice and Draft John Baird for Conservative Party leader have apparently been created because of the recent political shit storm that was started when the Conservative Party proposed ending government subsidization for political parties in their economic update.

Grey Cup 2008

Grey Cup 2008 festivities are over and it was a deadly time, here are some interesting things about this past weekend.

-The abundance of taxis is unreal, when we used a cab we never had to call one. We simply flagged one down driving by or went to a hotel where there is always cabs waiting at the taxi stands. In addition there was no more cabs this weekend than any other regular weekend and besides Grey Cup with the thousands of drunken extras staying in the city, there was also an NHL game on Saturday which saw Montreal retire Patrick Roy's jersey and an NHL game tonight.

-Besides my hotel, most hotels were within walking distance of the Grey Cup village and the other Grey Cup venues.

-The Big O where the Grey Cup game was played was as simple to get to as walking down a flight of stairs to the subway and getting on the train.

-The Bell Center where the Habs play was within walking distance of the hotels.

-For the most part french Canadians aren't the assholes they're made out to be. I only met two pricks that wouldn't speak english when it was obvious they knew how.

-Bars, Pubs, and Strip Joints are also in abundance within walking distance from the hotels.

-Spirit of Edmonton venue at the Sheraton Hotel was my favourite venue, there was no admission, reasonable wait in line for drinks, constant entertainment whether it was pep bands, cheer leaders, or slide shows there was always something going on.

-Touchdown Winnipeg venue at the Delta Hotel was very similiar to Edmontons. Admission was $10 or $15 but that got me a stamp so I could get back in later if I left, a little pin as well as a drink ticket. Entertainment was similiar Edmontons.

-Regina and Hamilton shared a huge building for their venues. Admission was $10 which is a fair cover, if you left however you weren't allowed back in without paying admission again. There was no ATM in the venue, which turns into a problem since you had to pay admission every time to came and left. Bathrooms were small and dirty with huge lines, in addition to the ladies using the mens when theirs was occupied, the men were using the ladies when ours was occupied. Drinks were easy to get but were the most expensive at $7, even more expensive than drinks at the Big O during the Grey Cup game. Entertainment was similiar to Edmonton and Winnipegs but wasn't constant all night.

All in all it was a deadly trip, Montreal is one of the most fun cities i've been to, and with the exception of whoever was in charge of Riderville shitting the bed, all the other Grey Cup festivities were awesome.

Hilton Bonaventure On Fire in Montreal

The Hilton Bonaventure in Montreal was on fire last night and early this morning. I walked there from my hotel but couldn't see any flames although there was a shit load of emergency vehicles and smoke rising from the roof. Pictures to come later.

New Enterprise ICK

This is apparently the re designed 'original' Starship Enterprise. This is what is supposedly being used in the upcoming eleventh and re imagined film in the Star Trek franchise. While the story sounds great so far, my stomach sank when I saw this starship. The only way this design will work is if in addittion to this new movie Paramount launches a re imagined version of the ST:TOS in similiar fashion to what SCI FI did with Battlestar Galactica.
